Sunethra Dayavansha and Ukesh Koju, PhD students in the Physical Ultrasonics group will give talks in the University of Mississippi Physics Graduate Student symposium describing their recent research studies. Sunethra will discuss her recently completed work on micellar fluids which Ukesh will discuss his work on metamaterial band gaps.
Frank Odom, one of the 2016 BASS (Basic Acoustics Summer School) fellows working in the Physical Ultrasonics group, completed the BASS program. Frank gave a talk in the final lecture of the BASS series along with another BASS fellow who was working in the Aeroacoustics group. Frank's talk was titled "Micellar Fluids" and he discussed the dependence of shear wave speed in the fluid on fluid temperature in the range 8 - 20o C.

Sunethra Dayavansha successfully defended here MS thesis titled "Temperature Dependence of Shear Wave Speed in Micellar Fluid." Sunethra completed her MS research under the guidance of Dr. Labuda as her thesis advisor.
The Basic Acoustics Summer School (BASS) program at NCPA gives students opportunities to do research directed by experts, exploring topics that are not ordinarily encountered in the undergraduate experience. Each year, NCPA hosts a series of talks as part of the BASS program. Cecille Labuda and Joel Mobley gave talks in the series on 06/19/2015 and 07/10/2015 respectively. The final talk in the series will be presented by the BASS fellows. Frank Odom, one of the BASS fellows
